I love science ((technology, math, & engineering!)) as much as I love art! After years studying physics and nuclear engineering, I decided to go down a different track and start Proton Paperie & Press... But once a scientist, always a scientist! So, STEM-inspired design is one of my favorite themes.
From petri dish coasters for biologists to bubble chamber designs for physicists, these coasters are printed on my hand-crank press and finished with epoxy resin & cork coatings to protect the art. Some designs feature inclusions like sparkles or real metal watch gears.
All of these designs are available for purchase in my Etsy shop.
Manuel needed a present for his newborn nephew, Tomas, and he gave me free reign to come up with a special idea. I hand-illustrated and lettered a piece of fine art, and I crocheted a toy rocket ship to match. Manuel is a research scientist who grew up in South America, so I wanted to include those themes to really personalize his gift.
Later, the illustration served as the basis for a relief print, which is available in my etsy shop.

Ashly and Paul chose to celebrate the birth of baby Bonnie with purple and sparkles! This letterpress announcement is printed with a deep impression on cotton paper and features pretty paper ribbons and adorable 3-D flowers. And of course, a photo of darling baby! These announcements are completed with a shimmering ice silver envelope.
To celebrate Vivian's birth, Katy and Justin chose a photo letterpress birth announcement.
A beautiful textured pink paper accent adds even more richness to the thick 110lb cotton card, and a sparkly butterfly pops out of the page. Glittering Swarovski rhinestones and a shimmering pink envelope complete the effect.

Whether for your wedding, business, or home, a hand lettered sign is interesting and personal!
At your wedding, use a hand painted sign to announce your wedding party, request an unplugged ceremony, or dress up your candy bar.
Acrylics, watercolors, chalkboard signs, and more... the possibilities are endless!
Personalized stationery makes letter writing a treat, and brightens the mailboxes of those you love! Stationery sets also make fantastic, personal gifts.
Letterpress printing is a centuries-old traditional type of relief printmaking -- ink is applied to a raised plate, which is then pressed into paper. This results in a stunning deep impression called a "bite." For every color in the design, a separate pass through the press is required, with careful registration between layers.
In keeping with my training as a fine-art printmaker, I use a hand crank etching style press and hand brayers to apply ink. Everything starts as a sketch, which I digitize and have made into a polymer plate for printing.
Letterpress is a great choice for anything that needs to impress -- from wedding invitations to business cards.
A memorable business card helps you stand out from the pack!
One of my unique specialities is creating hand carved and printed linocut business cards. The design is cut from a block of linoleum using sharp tools and then printed one by one on my hand crank press. These thick cards have a distinctive look totally unlike any digitally printed card! I can incorporate an existing logo or start from scratch and do a full card design for your business or personal card.
Printmaking is a traditional art form, where ink is transferred from a matrix (such as a woodcut block) to paper or another material, often via a mechanical press. Even though several pieces may be produced from the same matrix (creating a numbered edition), each print can be subtly different, and each is considered an original piece of art.
Typically, a piece of art is designed with a particular printmaking method in mind -- such as relief (woodcut, linoleum, letterpress), intaglio, etching, lithography, mono printing, or serigraphy.
I was trained in fine art printmaking at Tulane University in New Orleans. Currently, I operate a hand-crank etching press with a 15x30" bed to complete all my relief printing and letterpress work. Recent prints, as well as older prints, are available for purchase in my Etsy shop.
